Kevin Kirkpatrick

Stage IV Liver Cancer

Kevin Kirkpatrick, 59 of Frederick, MD, died Sunday September 25, 2016 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD.  He was the husband of Monica Kirkpatrick for 13 years.  Kevin was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, son-in-law, brother in-law, uncle, friend, neighbor, handyman and dive buddy.  Kevin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, scuba diving, trips to the Caribbean, gardening, making birdhouses, lawn work and helping his neighbors.

Kevin Kirkpatrick's Bio

In May of 2016, Kevin was diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer that had metastasized to his lung.  Needless to say, the lives of Kevin and his loved ones changed in an instant. Kevin sought treatment for his disease by undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.  After several weeks of treatment, he returned to only find that the mass in his lung remained unchanged and that other nodules had formed.  It was at this point that he decided to accept things for what they were and spend the rest of his remaining days with his loved ones.  Monica cared for Kevin in their home until the last 2 days of his life.  It was Kevin’s wish to not die in their family home.  So respecting his wishes, Monica moved him to the Kline Hospice House on Friday, September 23 which is where he spent his last few days.

With the sudden diagnosis and how fast Kevin’s illness progressed, Monica and Kevin were unable to fully prepare and plan for their separate journeys.  There are minimal funds available to assist with the interment and the expenses that were incurred during Kevin’s illness.  Therefore, we are asking our friends, family and our community to reach into your hearts and help Monica to move forward without the financial strain so that she can grieve the loss of her husband.   Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated and will go to The Patty Pollatos Fund to assist with paying the expenses incurred.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
