Memorials for PPF Volunteers

Mr. Raymond F. Burns - Frederick News Obituary

Mr. Raymond F. Burns, 94, of Frederick, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Harriet Virginia Groshon Burns, who died June 13, 2003. They had been married for 64 years.

Born Jan. 16, 1916, in Kemptown, he was a son of the late Harvey and Ida Cutsail Burns. Mr. Burns attended Kemptown School and farmed in that area for many years. He later worked with Fairchild and Chestnut Farms Dairy. He also owned his own business later in life and mowed lawns in New Market and had also worked in tree removal and the wood business.

Mr. Burns was well-known at area auctions and public sales and enjoyed antiquing for clocks and radios, which he repaired and sold.

He is survived by six children, Stanley “Gene” Burns, and wife, Becky, of Frederick, William E. Burns and Mary Ellen, of Charles Town, W.Va., Mary Susie May and John, Pat Alexander and friend, Dave, May L. Burns and friend, Petie, and Linda Kuykendall, and husband, Glen, all of Frederick; 10 grandchildren, Karen Sexton, Dianna Moxley, Kimberly Krenzler, Jason Kuykendall, Josh Kuykendall, Kelly Burns, Tina Walter Carter, Dawn Duncan, Randall E. Burns and Michael David Burns; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends in New Market.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alton Lee Duncan; and one sister, Mildred Frye Butts.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, from the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

The Patty Pollatos Fund, Inc. is an independent and non-sectarian 501(c)(3) and community-based non-profit that operates with an all-volunteer workforce to educate and assist local families and individuals in Maryland about economic opportunities, raise funds and assist in raising funds for families during the temporary financial strain caused by cancer, spinal cord injuries, heart, liver or kidney transplants which knows no income level. We stand in the gap for other non-profits in their hour of need and we also provide assistance, as needed, with national disasters.
