– Thumbs Up That They Are Alive In Haiti

“Therefore,
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew
28:19
This was
the command that Jesus told his 12 disciples. God has given a
small group of George Mason Students a wonderful opportunity to
live out Matthew 28:19!
This group of young people left Fairfax,
Virginia on January 9 to spend a week sharing Jesus with the
people of Percin Village of Petite Goave in Haiti through
World Hope International and McLean Bible Church.
Part of their mission includes ministering to orphans, those
infected with HIV/AIDs, and those who are in need of spiritual
and physical care. On January 12th, as you all know,
the worse earthquake in 200 years devastated this already
impoverished country. This pictures show the group is safe
and have food and water but only for another couple of days
because they are sharing it with the many orphaned
children that are being brought to them to care for.
This group is
living in an open field because the structures are not safe to
go into. They are making tee pees of palm branches and
sticks to keep the children in the shade. They spend most
of their time comforting them...playing with them, teaching them
to write....even with the language barrier. Courtney said their
group sleep’s with the children in their arms at night to
comfort them but their arms are not wide enough to hold all of
the grief stricken ones. She said that none of them want
to leave the children for fear of what will happen to them...not
enough people to care for them....Courtney said the sadness of
it all got to her yesterday with no sleep for 48 hours...she
went off to have a good cry behind a big bush so no one would
see her...only to have a little 8 year old boy find her and just
hold her and wipe the tears from her face...he had just lost his
parents, but was comforting her....

They are asking for prayers for safety and
strength to continue the mission that God has planned for them
during this critical time.
