Tim Matthews was born in Essex, Maryland
(Baltimore County) on March 21st, 1959.
In 1975 the family moved to Waynesboro,
PA., after his father got a transfer
with the company he worked for. Tim
graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High
School in 1977. After high school he
immediately went into the US Navy and
after basic training he joined his older
brother on what they call brother duty
and was sent overseas to Scotland on the
ship called the U.S.S Holland. Tim
proudly served his country for 4 years,
overseas and in the states.
All Tim’s life he was a dreamer and
loved adventure, but he never gave up on
his hopes and dreams. He was a
wonderful father, husband, son, brother
and most of all friend. He gave his
life to so many people, whether they
were rich or poor, young or old. He was
always willing to do what he could for
anyone, he loved helping others. One
time Tim gave money to a homeless person
when he needed the money himself. He
made a great impression on everyone he
met. But Tim’s main passion was
spreading God’s word. From the time he
was a little boy to the day he left this
earth. He always spoke God’s word,
never lost his Faith and wanted to bring
everyone as close to the Lord as he
could. Tim was also a poet, he wrote
many beautiful Christian poems which
some day in his honor we hope to get
published. If you ever met Tim you
would know that he would get right back
up every time he fell, and this was by
his Faith and the Grace of God.
In June of 2009, Tim was diagnosed with
Stage 4 Lung Cancer. They found a mass
the size of an egg and also a blood clot
in his lung besides fluid around his
heart. He went through Chemotherapy for
several months, Radiation for weeks and
everything possible to help him but
nothing worked. He suffered a very
painful but short battle with cancer.
But on January 23rd, 2010 our Precious
Lord above called him home. Tim is now
in peace, with no pain or suffering and
he is looking down on us and smiling.
He is now able to walk, run, breathe and
laugh again.
You can help honor Tim’s name by
donating to the Patty Pollatos Fund.
Even though he is not on earth any
longer, Tim will still be helping others
from Heaven through your hands. God
Bless you all. |
