Gregory
Carter is a 43 year-old man who was
diagnosed this spring with Atypical
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Greg’s parents
are from Columbia, MD where he grew up.
His mother has been a great support
during these trying times and has come
through so much through the guidance of
her faith and her willingness to reach
out to others. There has been an
outpouring of support from Greg’s
co-workers, family, and friends. Greg
is a caring and devoted husband and
father. He has stayed cheerful and
upbeat even given the circumstances.
Greg also has a wife who is an aspiring
nurse and a six-year old daughter who
will be attending the magnet program at
North Frederick Elementary this fall.
Greg is
taking chemotherapy and is planning for
a bone marrow transplant. At this time,
his only match is his mother (who is a
half-match). Leukemia patients are in
desperate need of bone marrow donors,
and the process to be tested to see if
you are someone’s match is painless and
could save a life. The National Marrow
Donor Program (NMDP) has made the whole
process easier. To join the NMDP, or for
more information, visit
http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/index.html
We would
like to thank the communities of
Columbia, Walkersville, and Frederick
for the support they have provided t to
Greg’s wife and daughter as Greg travels
to and from Johns Hopkins for treatments
that will eventually lead to a bone
marrow transplant. In closing, the Bible
says to Ask and it shall be given unto
you. Seek and you shall find. Knock
and the door shall be open. This is a
very difficult time for Gregory and his
family. We are reaching out to ask for
your help and support as this loving
family faces a very stressful,
emotional, and financially draining
time. We ARE SEEKING your prayers as he
continues his treatments. We are
knocking on all doors and have faith
that our hearts and the doors of love
will remain open. |
